Meet Our Member Of The Month For April - Alicia S.

Hi everyone! We are so excited for you to meet our Member of the Month for April! In this series, we feature some of the amazing people who are part of our Loyobo family. We think it is important to share their stories to help inspire others and to celebrate their amazing accomplishments!

This month that member is Alicia S., who has been a member of the Loyobo Family since 2018! Our entire team is so thankful for Alicia’s support over the years, and for her determination and consistency in showing up for classes, coaching calls, and other events.

How long have you been coming to Loyobo FIT and what initially inspired you to try our community?

Oh boy, It's been a while! Since 2018—I was in a transitionary phase of my life going through a bad break-up, trying to finish university as a mature student, and I needed to just to do something different to refocus my energy into myself and my well-being.

What are your top 3 goals when it comes to loving your body?

1.To maintain a resilient connection between my body and mind
2, To find laughter, lightness and joy in myself
3, To flow with the seasons of life in a way that I can accept and be challenged to grow through them

What is one of the challenges that you have faced in your self-love journey? What have you found most helpful in working to overcome it?

I struggle with feeling the need to prove my worth as a person, and learning that I am able, and allowed, to take up space. The most helpful thing I have found is learning to trust in my abilities, challenging myself, and learning to ask for support when needed.

What was your life like before you started at Loyobo FIT? How did you feel about your body?

A little be chaotic. I made a huge life change career-wise and was trying to figure out who I was outside of my previous career, and who I wanted to be moving forward. I struggled with anxiety, grief, and digestive issues. My body was the last thing on my mind, and was often neglected.

What has changed since you joined the Loyobo Family and became a part of our community?

I feel more settled into myself. More aware of the things that can trip me up, and learning to have grace with myself when dealing with them. I've learned I need to move everyday to remind myself to be in my body, and that having a strong community and support structure are so important to one’s well-being.

What is your favorite memory or achievement of your time at Loyobo FIT?

One of my favorite moments is going to one of Christie's morning Sculpt and Sweat classes, not being fully awake, and just giving it my all for the next 30 minutes. I am always wide awake by the end and ready to get going on the day! Beats a morning coffee every time!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their self-love journey?

Take it one step at a time and reach out for support.

What is your favourite benefit that comes with being a Loyobo member? (e.g., fitness classes, group coaching call, member social etc.)?

I love the variety of classes offered, the ability move in different ways, and try new things. I also love the group couching calls, and being able to connect with other people to share in each others’ journeys while supporting each others’ growth.

How would you describe you relationship with food and how has being a part of Loyobo changed it?

Food and I are the best of friends, I love eating and sharing meals with friends and family. Although I have struggled with labeling food in different ways that have not always been beneficial. Being a part of Loyobo FIT has allowed me to learn to see food in a different perspective,
is more mindful of how food makes me feel, and to be more in tune with what, and when, I need to eat.

Anything else you would like to share?

I am so grateful that I found Loyobo Fit when I did, it has been one of the best investments and gifts I have and continue to give myself.
