5 Tips to Create a Consistent Wellness Routine

This new season often comes with a surge of motivation - getting excited about our goals, and preparing to tackle them. BUT - we can quickly become overwhelmed or return to old habits as the stress mounts or the unexpected strikes.

So to help set you up for success for this new season, here are 5 tips on creating a consistent health and wellness routine:

#1. Ease into it. Going into the month with an all or nothing mentality, or trying to do it all can be really detrimental to achieving your goals. Going from 0-100 can result in overwhelm, burn out, and fatigue. So start small - choose 1 or 2 things you can add into your routine, and stick with it for 30-60 days before adding more on top.

#2. Create clear, realistic expectations of yourself (and others!). Ask yourself what you expect from yourself while working on your goals? And how will you measure your success along the way? Write these out, and then reflect on if they are actually realistic - adjust as needed.

#3. Don't wait for motivation to strike - because it may not. Behaviour change is hard, and if you wait until you feel like making a change, you're almost always setting yourself up for failure. So make a commitment, sign yourself up for a class or program that gives you some accountability to make the changes you want to see in your life.

#4. Get some support! It is so much harder to implement change on your own, so don't try and do it alone. Tell a friend, join a community like Loyobo, sign up for coaching, therapy, talk to family. Find those supports, and ask for help when you need it!

#5. Look at the big picture - when it comes to your health and wellness. Many people only focus on the fitness aspect, and go hard on workouts, without addressing the other elements of self-care. Do you find yourself thinking "I just need to workout more, sweat it out, or work harder" or maybe punishing yourself by working out non-stop? You can't hate your way into loving your body. If you're not dealing with self-talk, your relationship with food, or self-care, you are making it that much harder on yourself. Show up for yourself in other ways.

Change is hard. But I know you can achieve your goals, and succeed this Fall. I believe in you!
