The Idea of Having "Problem Areas" is Bullsh*t

Today, I want to share something that I came across this week - and reminded me why this journey to self-love and body acceptance is SO important.

So grab your morning hot beverage of choice, prepare your best 'clutching your mamas pearls' reaction, allow me to set the stage.

In case you missed it, we recently announced our new Badass Body Confidence & Stress-Free Strength program, for busy women who are ready to feel confident in their body, be energized  through joyful movement, and learn how to trust their own voice (without wasting time trying to figure it out on their own or deal with yet another BS diet).

So, I decided to do a little digging into the kind of diets and diet programs that exist right now. Because, you see, I've worked really hard to surround myself with media that aligns with the anti-diet and joyful movement mindsets that I now practice in my day-to-day (which is seriously so much better for my mental health and wellbeing!)

HOWEVER, it means that I don't really know what the 'status quo' is of diet programs right now. I don't see a lot of ads or marketing for new programs because, well - I've turned them off.

And even though I know how bad things are out there, I still can't believe what I found and how companies are still trying to profit off of shaming women's bodies.

How many things are wrong with this image? Let me count the ways:

  1. It's the absolute first slide that pops up when you visit their website

  2. The negative descriptors and trigger words used to describe different body parts

  3. Calling normal parts of a woman's body "problem areas"

- and for me, the nail in the coffin here was this-

4. YOU HAVE TO SELECT AT LEAST ONE BEFORE MOVING ON!!

I literally have ALL of the things listed here as problems. Saggy breasts? Yep. Belly fat? I've got it! Flabby arms, thick thighs, double chin - they are all things I have once used to describe my body. And it really wasn't that long ago when I would have bought right into this message.

These diet programs and weight loss companies are taking your insecurities, confirming them by calling them problems, and cashing in on your self-shame by making you believe your body is bad.

And the only way to fix it is through weight loss. With them. At $500/month. Seriously?!

So today - I want to leave you with this reminder.

Your body is good, exactly how it is today.

And also - f*ck diet culture. Your body is NOT the problem.

I will remind you of that every chance I get.

PS. My Badass Body Confidence & Stress-Free Strength program, is about healing your relationship with your body and 1:1 support to ensure your success (even if you struggle with motivation or overwhelm). Real women. Real change. Real confidence. None of the crap that will keep you stuck in shame. No more diets. No 'problem areas'. I promise!
