Hello everyone!

We are so excited to bring you our next edition of our Member of the Month series, where we feature some of the amazing people who are part of our Loyobo FIT family. We think it is important to share their stories to help inspire others and to celebrate their amazing accomplishments!

This month that member is Megan Brodie, who is one of our All In Virtual Members. Our entire team is so impressed with her consistency when it comes to class attendance, all the HARD WORK she’s been doing towards meeting her fitness goals, healing her relationship with food, and stepping into the self love she TOTALLY deserves!

This month, MEGAN, we celebrate YOU! We are so grateful to know you. Thank you for being a part of our family and for sharing your story with us!

How long have you been coming to Loyobo FIT and what initially inspired you to try a class?

I first came to Loyobo FIT in January 2020 with a month trial deal I found on Facebook. I was reluctant to join a gym (again!), but a supportive introductory meeting with Courtney showed me that Loyobo’s approach was different. My first class was an evening Mind/Body Unwind with Sobia and it was clear to me that this community was genuinely caring and was somewhere where I could fit in.

What are your top 3 health and fitness goals?

  1. To move more comfortably when being active with my family

  2. Be more adventurous in the kitchen – eat breakfast everyday!

  3. Focus more on establishing healthy habits than on results

What is one of the challenges that you have faced in your health/fitness journey? What have you found most helpful in working to overcome it?

A lack of confidence in the gym & discomfort while playing sports. I’ve had difficulty finding movement that I enjoy. Finding a community of like-minded, understanding, accepting, and encouraging people to exercise and reflect with has been most helpful in overcoming these challenges!

What was your life like before you started at Loyobo FIT? How did you feel about your body?

I’d recently been through some challenging times that I have been trying to face and heal from. My weight had been up and down with the births of my kids and I’ve never been athletic or very health conscious, but with recent stress and even more weight-gain, I felt my body was limiting some of the progress I wanted to make.

What has changed since you joined the Loyobo Family and started coming to class regularly?

I’m prioritizing time for myself. I’m choosing classes that I enjoy and fit my current fitness level without worrying about what I “should” do or “should” like. I’m also attending workshops and starting to work on my nutrition – making small sustainable changes to my routines that will have a lasting impact instead of a quick fix diet. I’ve learnt that slow progress is still progress and health is not about my size.

What is your favorite memory or achievement of your time at Loyobo FIT?

As I’m somewhat introverted, being new, then with COVID closures, then summer, I didn’t attend many in-person classes for the first few months. The September 2020 Team Challenge with my Fit Fatales team was the first time I really felt connected with Loyobo FIT members face-to-face…and what an amazingly welcoming & fun group of women it was and is!

TheVirtual class options have been great for me lately, but I do miss my Fit Fatales (and we won the Challenge btw!). I’m sure they set me on the path to reaching my recent 100 classes achievement!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their health and fitness journey?

You’re worth it and YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS…find your people, the ‘YOUR way’ of doing things, and just move…choose progress over perfection!

What is your favorite class and why?

Functional Pilates with Katie – and I also have recently added some private sessions with Katie and nutritional consults with Lori. I am learning so much about how my body works, moves, and what it needs. Small, thoughtful movements are just as impactful (and sometimes just as hard!) as the big sweaty ones!

What is your biggest dream?

I’d like to walk the El Camino (780kms…Im currently working my way up to 5k!)
