Devin’s Story

We think it’s time to change the narrative about fitness and our team is sharing their stories to help you change yours!

This is the story of Devin, Who’s one of our Experience Coordinators.

Fitness, to me, is a process.

I work to get a little bit healthier, a little bit more resilient, a little bit more in control, and a little bit more confident.

It’s about recognizing that the mind and the body are connected, so getting fitter in one means getting fitter in the other, and neglecting one means neglecting the other. It also means that the process is never-ending–I will never arrive at a “destination”, there is always work to be done, more ways in which to improve

I embody this most through my Tai Chi practice. Tai Chi is all about constantly improving, being humble and grateful enough to accept corrections in the spirit in which they’re offered, and to recognize that the journey will never be complete.

I’ve taken this principle of Tai Chi practice and applied it to other practices like Yoga, Zumba, dancing, and running. This principle has freed me to be happy with my body while at the same time striving to improve.

It’s a tricky balance, but well worth it!”

SO WE ASK – WHAT DOES FITNESS MEAN TO YOU?

WE CAN TAKE BACK A WORD THAT HAS HURT SO MANY OF US, TO MAKE IT SOMETHING OF DIVERSE BEAUTY. TO CREATE OUR OWN DEFINITION OF WHAT A “FIT BODY” LOOKS LIKE.

AN ACT OF LOVE FOR OUR BODIES, RATHER THAN HATE.
