Hello everyone!
Welcome to another edition of our Member of the Month series, where we feature some of the amazing people who are part of our Loyobo FIT family. We think it is important to share their stories to help inspire others and to celebrate their amazing accomplishments!
This month, our member is April Tozer, who is one of our VIP members. April is known to be a source of joy in our Loyobo community! She is a kindergarten teacher who is always sharing stories and making others smile and laugh. She is always up for a challenge and helps encourage others to step outside of their comfort zone. We have so enjoyed getting to know her and be a part of her journey of self-love and health!
This month, April, we celebrate YOU! We are so grateful to know you. Thank you for being a part of our family and for sharing your story with us!
How long have you been coming to Loyobo FIT and what initially inspired you to try a class?
”I’ve been coming to Loyobo since March of this year. A friend of mine from out of town had been following Loyobo on social media and suggested I try a few classes.”
What are your top 3 health and fitness goals?
”To become much stronger physically.
increase my cardio endurance.
To develop a healthy relationship with my body and learn to love what I see in the mirror.”
What is one of the challenges that you have faced in your health/fitness journey? What have you found most helpful in working to overcome it?
”Motivation. I go through phases where I go to the gym regularly. Then I use being busy as an excuse not to go, and many weeks pass before I attend the gym again. That hasn’t been the case with Loyobo. I’m very motivated by competition (specifically trying to attend more classes then Mr. August) and Loyobo’s supportive members and staff have helped motivate me to attend regularly.”
How has your life changed since becoming a member of Loyobo FIT?
”I’m a lot stronger than I was 6 months ago. I love the baseline workouts because you can see your progression over the months. I’ve been attending classes regularly and I never thought I’d be a gym regular. I actually miss it when I’m unable to go…who am I?!?”
What is your favourite memory or achievement of your time at Loyobo FIT?
”Being able to do a plank for 30 seconds, and a wall sit for nearly a minute. Also, I feel pretty damn powerful when I nail those clean and presses in Tone and Flex.”
What advice would you give to someone just starting their health and fitness journey?
“Throw out your scale! That number doesn’t define you! Also, those mirrors in class aren’t just for checking your form. They’re for checking out your butt while giving yourself a little wink. Cause your badass!”
What is your favourite class and why?
“Surprisingly, Tone and Flex! On my studio tour, I remember telling Courtney that I didn’t like lifting weights, and preferred cardio classes. She told me she used to think the same but that she feels the most powerful when shes lifting weights. I laughed and thought she was nuts. And now here I am attending Tone and Flex twice a week. “
What is your favourite healthy snack? “Celery and hummus”
Anything else you would like to share?
“I really appreciate how welcoming the Loyobo family is. I found that other gyms had a very “get in, get it done, get out” attitude. I like coming a few minutes early before class and chatting with the other members, laughing during class, and being wished a good night by the staff before I leave. It’s the little things that make the biggest difference.”
Congratulations April! You deserve this moment in the spotlight as we celebrate the awesomeness that is YOU. THANK YOU for always being such a positive presence in the studio and for including us as part of your journey. We are so proud of you and are so grateful to have you as part of our Loyobo Family!
