Tips from the Loyobo team on how to increase your energy levels!

One of the questions our instructors keep getting asked by members is how they manage to stay so active and energetic all day?! Teaching multiple classes/working out several times in a day is not an easy feat – yet they seem to do it with so much ease and an unwavering smile!

Here are some of the tips they swear by:

Limit post dinner snacking – Something that helps me is to find some quiet evenings in my
week and to NOT snack after dinner!  It’s similar to intermittent fasting but an extra light version!  I drink an herbal tea and go to bed fairly early and I find that gives me a great sparkle the next day. I feel the deeper rest and restoration my body was able to gain from not digesting for more hours in a row then usual.

Prep your meals – Planning and prepping my meals and snacks ahead of time is CRITICAL. Being as active as I am, and generally on the go from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep, it is very important to make sure that my blood sugar levels stay balanced. Once I began scheduling my meal times (and yes, I think you should do this!) and treating them like appointments I do not want to miss, I found that I had more energy and felt better equipped to get through each day. Skipping meals is NEVER an option for me!

It can be really easy to let other things take over and let our daily activity and eating routine slide. Remember that when you take time to care for yourself, you show up more resilient and prepared (from an energy standpoint) to tackle whatever the day brings! This is how I approach my busy (and active) lifestyle 🙂

Plan aheadI always start my day with a hearty breakfast including protein. I also make sure to plan my day the night before so I can sleep well knowing that all my activities for the next day are planned for!

Add supplements to your daily routineI strongly believe in using food & supplements to make sure my body is getting what it needs! Working with a nutritionist (like Lori) was a huge game changer for me. My favorite supplement: Vitamin B12 packs for a boost of energy! I also swear by lots of water. Staying hydrated is key!

I also do a lot of mindset work to allow myself to move, even when I am tired or don’t feel
like it. I know a good workout is better than a cup of coffee for boosting my energy level! I always feel better and more alive after moving my body.

Find balance in your workout routineI love to move my body in different ways! I find that a combination of cardio, strength training and stretching helps to maintain my energy levels and enable me to put in my best when I am working out. I try to follow up high intensity work-outs with low impact exercises to increase my stamina and give my body a chance to recover and rejuvenate itself.

Finding some time to meditate on a regular basis also helps me feel more positive and energetic!

Manage your stress levelsA highly active lifestyle can sometimes lead to more stress.
I try to stay on top of my stress levels by taking out time to engage in activities that bring me joy including spending time with friends and family!

I also recommend developing and sticking to a sleep schedule or routine and making sure you are
getting enough Vitamin D either in the form of supplements or by spending time
outdoors.

Maintain a consistent AM and PM routine – My energy levels throughout the day are very much related to how I start and end my day, so I strongly stand by having consistent AM and PM routines!

The way you start your day, sets the tone for the rest of your day… especially when it comes to
energy! If you are pushing snooze 3+ times, you are already in a mindset of being in resistance to your day. Literally force yourself to LEAP out of bed and dedicate some time to setting yourself up for a productive, energetic day.
