Tips on stepping out of class or leaving early

The best thing about working out in a group environment is the strong sense of community – that feeling of “we’re all in this together” as we work towards meeting our health goals and moving our bodies! At Loyobo, we also strongly value the kindness, encouragement and respect our members show to each other, as well as our instructors.

Our members are one of the most dedicated groups we’ve ever seen! Always striving to do their best in class and make the most of their time. But, we understand that at times we all need a little break or may need to leave class early due to pressing reasons. Here are a few tips on how to manage leaving a class early without feeling awkward or disrupting the group!

  1. Plan ahead! Let your instructor know if you need to leave early before the class starts. The cooldown is one of the most important parts of our work-out but if you have to miss it, ask your instructor beforehand if there’s a quick stretch you can do while walking to your car or the bus stop. Even better? Plan to give yourself a little bit of time (2-3 minutes) to cool down and stretch before leaving the studio! You can do this in the hallway, changeroom, our Studio B, or even at the back of the class! Your instructor can be a great source of information and tips to ensure you are keeping your body safe.

  2. Give your instructor a THUMBS UP! If you need to step out to use the restroom (hey we all need to, especially during the colder months) or just need a minute to get some air, give your instructor a thumbs up before you do so that they know you are safe. Join back whenever you are ready!

  3. For yoga, Pilates and Mind Body Unwind classes, set your mat closer to the door if you know you’ll be leaving early. Try to exit as quietly as possible so that you don’t disturb other participants and don’t worry about putting away all your props. Your instructor can take care of that as long as you let them know beforehand 😊

4. Let our team know if you are not feeling well. Don’t worry about any awkwardness here – this is our job and frankly – we have seen it all in what we do! Our primary concern is making sure YOU are safe and comfortable, so either let your instructor, our front desk staff, or one of the members of our management team know so they can assist you as required. That is what we are here for!

5. Leave us a note! In case something comes up urgently and you must leave the studio, give your instructor a thumbs up and either let the front desk staff know what is up or if no one is at the desk, leave them an explanatory note at reception so that they know you are doing OK. We always have post-it notes and pens available for you to use!

We love your feedback! It helps us improve our classes! If there’s something you’d like us to do better, please feel free to bring it up with our instructors and management team. You can also place your suggestions in our suggestion boxes (these can be found in the changing areas) or send us an email on [email protected].

Our instructor and management teams are here to support your needs and to ensure that you have the best possible class experience! By working together and following these simple tips, we can make sure everyone is taken care of and safe at the studio.
