Introduction to self-defence - Friday Happy HOur
September 20, 2019 - 6:00 - 7:00 PM

This class is designed to introduce beginner students to core concepts in reality based self-defence. While the techniques and strategies employed are based in traditional Japanese martial arts, the focus will be on practical techniques that can be applied in stressful situations with minimal training.

This session will also focus largely on situational awareness and threat avoidance. Be ready to get a little bit loud and physically engage with other students (carefully!).

For this special edition of our Monday morning 6:15am Body Sculpt Class, we will be doing a baseline workout!

A baseline workout is used to help track your progress. We complete certain basic and core exercises, recording the weight and number of repetitions completed in a 60 second time frame.

It is a great way to help you set goals to increase your strength and see how your works are making a difference in your body!

PLEASE NOTE: Preregistration is required for this class!

Class is included for members and $15 drop-in for non-members


Family Zumba Party - Friday Happy Hour

If you are looking for something super fun and healthy to do with your family, this is it! Join us for a high energy dance party packed with easy to follow routines, games and a fusion of Latin and popular music that both kids and adults will love! Family Zumba gives you and your family a chance to be active together while improving coordination, endurance and strength. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Use your member guest passes to bring a guest for just $5+tax, or purchase a special guest pass for kids under 12 for just $8.50+tax.


protein Workshop

Join Lori, Loyobo FIT’s in-house Holistic Nutritionist, for a workshop that is all about Protein!

We get asked all the time at the studio about protein. What is it? Why do we need it? How do I know how much to eat? What about vegan or meatless diets?

This workshop is designed to answer all your questions and more! We will discuss what protein does for our bodies, why getting enough in your diet is important and how much protein to aim for with your daily eating routine. PLUS - we will provide recipes and tips on convenient sources for meals, snacks and times when you need something for on-the-go, info on how incorporating protein can level up your results and exercise capacity, and OH YES - there will be SAMPLES!

We will have different snacks and protein powders available for you to try!

Get all your questions answered and take the guesswork out of this amazing macronutrient!

In addition, we have had requests to help you and provide a safe space to take progress pictures. So, we will be offering that in the studio before class from 6:00pm-6:30pm .

BurlesQuercise - friday happy hour

A fun, sweaty, sexy, burlesque cardio workout. You’ll learn some basic burlesque moves and put them together in easy cardio choreographies. No experience necessary. Just be willing to have fun. Led by Olive Von Topp, a member of Guelph's local burlesque troupe - the Femme Rebelles.

movement and stretches for knee Pain-workshop

Join Andi from Osteopathy with Andi as she shares with you her journey of recovery and her strategies to help you return to exercise, build strength, and feel more confident on incorporating movement without causing further pain or injury.

Andi is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and Yoga Instructor based here in Guelph and KW, with a background in Kinesiology & Physical Education, Personal training, and Fitness Instruction. This workshop will open the conversation about knee mechanics and safety during exercise. Keeping your joints in motion is always a good idea, and you will walk away with a better understanding of what might work best for you and how to modify some common exercises so that you can participate in any class confidently.

We will go over joint mechanics, how posture affects your body, and how to strengthen your body in a safe and effective manner. We will end with a Q&A where you can also take the time to chat with me personally about any complications you are having and how we might make that more manageable for you!

We are so excited to host another a Swap Event!

What is a swap you ask? You bring any of your own unwanted items that you think another member might enjoy! Clothes, jewelry, shoes, makeup or beauty products, purses, home decor, books - anything goes!

It is a win-win: You take home new items and get to clean out some of the old ones from your closet. The goal is to keep items out of landfill and have a great time while we do it.

Bonus - you don't have to take any of your old ones home! We handle all of your leftover items.

This time we are doing it as a potluck! It is free for members to attend, all we ask is that you bring a snack for your fellow swapers to enjoy! Non-members can attend for $10+tax.

Beverages will be provided (non-alcoholic).

Space is limited, so preregistration is required. :)

kitty cat yoga - friday happy hour

We are so excited to be partnering with the Guelph Humane Society(GHS) for this class and adoption event. GHS will be bringing an assortment of kittens and adult cats who are looking to find their Happy "Tails" with a loving family and together we will enjoy a relaxing Yoga class. Yes - that means if you fall in love with a feline friend, you can take them home with you! We will be raising funds to go towards the care of the animals at GHS, so we ask all participants to bring a minimum $5 donation to class, which Loyobo will happily match. The class will be open to all fitness levels and no previous yoga experience is required.

hawaiian hula - Friday happy hour

Aloha! This class will teach you some of the basic dance movements and techniques from the Pacific Islands, including Hawaii and Tahiti. This style of dance focuses largely on graceful hip movements, which provides for an amazing lower body workout! Participants are encouraged to wear a skirt or sarong to class. No dance experience is required and all fitness levels are welcome!

caribbean craze - friday happy hour

This class celebrates Caribbean Culture and showcases the magnificence of Caribbean Carnival through movement. This class will combine soca, dancehall, and latin fusion music to help get your body moving! No dance experience required. All fitness levels are welcome!

INtro to bellydancing - Friday happy hour

In this beginner-level class, you will learn Bellydance postures and how to isolate different parts of your body. You will also learn some foundational moves which we will link together into combinations that will culminate into a short choreography!

This class is hosted by Alaina Osborne, a professional dancer and choreographer based out of Toronto."

yoga for lower back pain - friday happy hour
November 22, 2019 - 6:00 - 7:00 PM

Dr.Griffiths runs a clinical yoga therapy program in Guelph that is specifically designed for people with back pain. This class will be a sneak peek of her program and is open to all fitness levels. It will include a series of postures that reflect current recommendations in the physical rehabilitation of low back pain, to relieve tension, improve mobility, and reduce pain. Learn specific poses, breathing techniques and modifications for accessing exercise safely with back pain. A strong emphasis will be placed on how to incorporate the use of props to make these traditional yoga postures accessible to all bodies
